WHEN AND
HOW WE SHOULD START TO CURL THE HAIR FOR THE SHOW
We need not
to start too soon, but we positively need to have the hair very well hydrated
by using either a soft cream or smooth oil, in order to let the skin create
its appropriate protection. We will start six or seven months before,
depending on the growing of the hair, because each puppy has its own nature.
All along this process we must remember not to be very demanding or grumbling
because they would undoubtedly try to get rid of them. We would morely
repeat the duty. The owners should consider letting them create their
own temperament. These procedures will earlier transform them in adults.
I will start
by mentioning the tools you should have before beginning.

Silky and
unfolded paper
Natural silky brushes for the oily brushings
Stainless steal, as flexible as possible, teeth brush
TWO COMPLETE SETS OF BRUSHES AND COMBS ARE NEEDED. ONE OF THEM IS FOR
THE OILY BRUSHING. THE OTHER ONE IS TO BRUSH AND PREPARE THEM FOR THE
SHOW.
Thin elastic bands for the chignons
Strong elastic bands for binding the papers that will curl the hair
An spray cna with a mixture of essential oils.
Ribbon for the boots.
Adhesive tape to firmly fix the boots.
Hair scissors for fine cut, to profile feet's and ear's hair.
Stainless steal comb.
Now, I will try to do my best to describe the steps you should follow,
beginning with how to fold the paper.

The paper must be a silky one, as thin as possible. The size for small
dogs is 21 x 32 cms. It is folded in the central part as shown in the
picture.

The most difficult and important part is the curl of the head, because
with their feet they will try to get rid of all you have done, and it
will take you much more time to make the work over, than for they removing
it. Be patient because it can take you days or even weeks, but do not
give up.
We start by taking a portion of hair of the upper side of the head,
from the eye to the ear, in a perfect straight line. Then we continue
with another straight line behind the ears, grasping in the centre with
a paper as shown in the picture.

As we have mentioned before, the whiskers are very important and also
one of the most hard fractions. You may experience may troubles, having
to do it several times a day since they must never be exposed (when
eating, the papers go into their mouth and they usually crunch them).

In addition to the whiskers, we have to keep our mind on to the bread,
for instance, it is too easy for them to pull out the paper by using
the nails of the front leg spur. Double elastic bands should be used
in both cases so if one cracks, the other stays.

For the hair of the cheeks (both sides of the head), we have to make
another straight line from the eye to the neck, grasping the hair behind
the ear. This is the part that less bothers them. Only in the case that
in frictions with any piece of furniture, it could cut its hair. With
the very best intention of avoiding this danger, we have no choice but
to punish it.

At the first glance, the boots my seem unnecessary. On the contrary,
if they were properly put in due place, there you will see a fantastic
job, avoiding any harmful against its hair while scratching itself.
After finishing the whole routine, it is essential to hold it in your
charmingly arms. It operates wonderfully.
THE FINAL RESULT WILL BE SEEN A THE RING.
THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS TO GO IN SHOW WITH A GOOD SPECIMEN, BUT THE
RESULTS, DEPENDS IN GREATER PART, ON THE PERSEVERANCE AND EFFORT OF
OUR INDIVIDUAL WORK.
